I'd also like to see a Mafia game set in 80's Philadelphia, known for inner turmoils within the mafia, AIDS epidemic, a high penchant for hard drugs - especially heroin and methamphetamine. Given 70's New York, and that kind of a protagonist, that's worth all the money I have. So imagine you're in the shoes of an ambitious, young mafioso who ends up pulling the strings of many stable powerhouse to reach the top. From what I've learned, everybody was on each others' throats back then. 70's New York was the exact definition of sh*thole, a city crumbled with high crime rate, drugs, popularized sex trade scene, corruption, economic falldown, racial tension etc. That'd be nice, as I always thought we should pay Empire Bay another visit, given the dynamic mob policy down there. It hadn't slipped my mind until I saw some people around here talking about 70's New York. There's a lot of options when we talk about a setting for a Mafia game. For example, the missions should be inducted to the game in the way how Mafia I & II did, then each part of the story feels unique in contrast to generalization we have in Mafia III.

I'd not definitely say that Mafia III is a bad game, but there are some good things from the past game they didn't include even though Mafia III has come up with new stuff that is cool on its own. In spite of all the cool soundtrack and thrilling storytelling, the missions get sort of repetitive apart from saving your lieutenants and final boss fights for securing each district. Judging by how much I played, the game is enjoyable and I'd give it an 8 out of 10, but most of the people who say that Mafia has lost touch with the third installment is also kind of right. However, I played the game around six hours at a local internet cafe, having taken River Row back for Vito. Edited Jby fashionįirst, to talk about Mafia III, unfortunately I am not able to play the game on my own system because my graphics card is sh*t.

Italians have a certain charm to them and that's it. So yes, M3 certainly was a Mafia game BUT the lone wolf rambo sh*t made me feel like I'm playing a GTA instead at times. This game gave us enough insight on the structure of a mob by taking it down piece by piece and more than enough interesting side characters one can connect to a Mafia. I'm not one of the guys who hates Mafia 3 for playing as a black guy and "hurr durr no italian wtf", because I loved the story and storytelling of this one. While GTA focused on various types of criminal organizations and lone wolf individuals in-between, Mafia has only a couple of secondary gangs and focuses on the raw, feared and well known Italian Mafia.

I doubt there are many Mafia players that have never in their life played GTA before so Mafia was the good alternative. They might do a 180 and bring in focus on the Russian Mafia for all we know.Imo there was a reason why people liked Mafia that gave us the typical definition known by most people of the term "Mafia". I'm fine with anything that doesn't conform to conventional views of the "Mafia", but no more The Punisher: New Orleans Edition Mafia games thanks. So I'm fine with anything especially when they yet again show a middle finger to pop culture view on 'mafia'.
